In Italy life happens in the town square, known as the piazza.  In the mornings, the piazza is filled with the chatter of well-heeled people stopping by for espresso and freshly baked brioche.  Early afternoons are meant for appertifs and  leisurely lunches.   In the evenings, the piazza comes alive again with the sounds of animated conversation as the Italians gather to eat, drink wine, and socialize.
